Retired, is a licensed clinical social worker with a background in education and social service.  Following receipt of a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Winston-Salem State University, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Smith entered A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina where she earned a Master of Science degree in Education.

Dr. Smith also earned a Master’s degree in Social Administration and a Doctorate in Kinesiology at Temple University, In Philadelphia, PA.   She has extensive background in teaching, special education and Child Study Team responsibilities, social work, and as a consultant on foster care and adoption placement issues.  Additionally, she has had lengthy experience and training in the management and remediation of systems that affect families and children, as well as those that impede the efficiency of organizations.  Her busy life is complemented and positively augmented by membership and regular participation in her church.
